As you all know the parents in law have been here the whole of the summer, well I feel as thought I have not really had a break. Perhaps it me feeling selfish but the summer holidays are an opportunity to get away and have a break from the normal mundane stuff.

We would really like to get away just for a long weekend over the August bank holiday weekend. We have british passports so we can travel almost anywhere. The main problem we have is we need somewhere really cheap and cheerful but that also the kids would enjoy.

Please can I have some suggestions.

struggling for cheap with a bank holiday .

this may not be your cup of tea ,but have you considered butlins , you get a break while the children are entertained all day .

either that or look for cheap last minute deals for greek islands , find a hotel with a pool and your away , but how cheap or easy it will be for a bank holiday i have no idea.

Also remember that airports can be a nightmare - but possibly no worse than the motorways.

The Canaries?

West of France - stunning scenery.

There are some activity holiday camp thingys with chalets dotted all over the country which are apparently pretty nice.

otherwise you could hope for the best with the weather and go to the coast or the lake district here

if you go to eurocamp and you want to use your own car , you can use tesco vouchers to go accross on the tunnel , they are worth 4 times as much :) ( ie £5 tesco voucher is worth 20 towards a tunnel crossing.

if you need children tracey , i can lend you mine :)
