    Help Publisher

I am looking for a free publisher down load. I at one time used Serif SE. But! It will not allow designing from a blank page, one must use Serif templates. That is fine, but the one you need is never there. So I deleted it. My old PC had publisher as part of the package, but my new on has not. Even had to buy the soft ware seperately. MS on the make, as usual. Would appreciate any help!...;>)

Not sure if this has all the same fuctions as publisher but it is free and other parts of open office are pretty close to MS counterparts

To begin, you should use Ubuntu Linux 9.04 and lift yourself out of the M$ dark ages. The entire scam was Gates' con job from the PCDOS/MSDOS - Digital Research GEM Desktop days - most people still don't possess the level of computer literacy not to be fooled, but you too can help to bring sneakiest crook on the planet to justice and so you should! Microsoft mafia's days are over, do yourself and the world a favour and upgrade now!

Try here for a live CD download that you don't even have to install on your HDD and you can go through and look at every desktop publishing app available without needing to buy anything at all: http://www.ubuntu.com/

Then, if you were unable to come to grips with OpenOffice Draw 3.0, and still can't find something to suit you through the application/package/update manager that comes as a part fo the live CD version, there are some other possibilities around the place that might fit within the broad requirements you have specified, such as:

http://www.osalt.com/scribus (I've never tried it - I do my desktop publishing the normal third-millenium way - in HTML and BBCode)

but it might be worth identifying the problems you have found with OpenOffice Draw 3.0 before suggesting anything more eccentric.

When you get Ubuntu Linux properly installed on your machine, don't forget to go into the Users and Groups administration and unlock thr root account so that you can enjoy the full power of Linux on your desktop and recover from the M$ virus for ever!
Tomorrow night's Lotto Draw is priceless now.

    Re: Publisher

In reply! Gates did what was wanted at the time, and I do not begrudge him his achievments, it was brilliant. He has made money, lots of it, so has the US treasury, plus any other countries government where the software has been sold, notwithstanding the retailer outlets. The reason I require free publishing soft ware is because I cannot afford to buy. Secondly. I have been asked to publish a community news letter and have agreed to do so. I have free access to a 2003 MS system that will not allow any other soft ware except MS. I have used Ubuntu and find it excelent, but bought a new pc with MS already installed, and am quite happy with it, obviously with out a publisher programme. Thank you for your very interesting reply, and links...;>)
